RFP: Please ensure you hand in a printed copy of the RFP response every second day as per the project schedule. Today you should hand in Day 7-8. Note that the Rubric includes a criteria on your timeliness and that this project should be done in the class on your own. Contact me personally if there are any issues.

Reminder 1: A number of students have not submitted their Interview assignment, which was due on May 30th prior to the start of the RFP response. Please see me if you have not submitted the report and would like to still submit the report.

Reminder 2: Many event groups have not submitted their money to the teacher sponsor of their event and given me a signed memo including the teachers signature indicating they have received their money. This is part of the project assessment criteria. Please see me if there is a problem.

Reminder 3 - Can everyone also please return their text books on Thursday.

We will be starting the Culminating Project for the course on Monday, June 2 and the project is Due on Friday, June 13. Time is running out and it is Time to focus and use your time wisely in class.

The following is a summary of the work that we have been working on for the last few months that is all due top be completed before the end of May.
  1. Enterprising Event Proposal - Missing 1 Team. Individual sections are completed but the Team Proposal is still required and is worth about 5 % of your total mark for the course.
  2. Enterprising Events - 4 to go. The team and individual rubrics for participation and execution of the event are worth about 10% of your total mark so you do want to get your Teacher Sponsor and Mr. Walters approval to go ahead.
  3. Unit 2 Event Test - Wednesday, May 28. If miss you need a parent note and come the next day before school or at lunch to write the test. The test will be 40-50 Multiple Choice Questions and 2 Short Answer Questions. We had a good review in class on Friday, May 16th. All sections of the unit and all potential short answer questions were discussed.
  4. Entrepedia - Unit 2 Topics - Due May 23rd. This will help you study for the Test. You will not have to complete Unit 3 Topics. If you have already done so I will count as bonus. Unit 1 topics were done prior to the mid term. If you are lost, I suggest looking at other Entrepedia pages,  reading the instructions and watching the Wiki Works With Gill Videos.
  5. Interview Report - Friday, May 30. You have had two months to complete, but do not leave to the last day as you need to write a summary of your interview in a report. Remember to review the Project overview and Report Writing information on the class website. I did say it could be done in pairs. The Report should be printed and submitted on the Interview Page on the class website.

If you are having any problems with any of these assignments, please see me before class, at lunch, or after school. I am her at 7:00 A.M. Daily and do not generally leave before 4. The Lab in 309 is open at lunch and if I am not there you can ask Ms. Couch and remind her you are in my class.

P.S. To the Port Critic Shave off Team. As I have told teachers and your team before, I will not be getting my hair cut without a professional barber, your team handing over $1,000 to Ms. Kypers in profit for her Port Critic account, and seeing a few other teachers and students on the stage. I hope you have some other teachers and students to get shaved. Who is you MC. Make sure they have music and something to say about the Port Critic.

Organization

We will continue with the Organization section of the Event Unit, which we started in class last week.

The major deliverable for this section is your final team Event Proposal. A number of teams are behind or switched topics and should have submitted their individual manager sections last week. If any team thinks they cannot get their team proposal completed please show me a revised project plan and we can discuss. If you need help with formatting a business report, please read and watch the material on the Report page of the class website.

All teams should have written the memo, which includes the information from your executive summary, to me and their event teacher sponsor to approve. The other team activity, is teams should have had me approve their final Event Survey so that you can conduct and analyze the information. Any proposal without the analysis will not likely get a level 3 as it is part of the criteria on the rubric. You may want to take a last review of the Event Overview document and rubrics.

Also remember that your individual Event Ads were to be submitted on line and printed about tow weeks ago. They have to be approved by me before using and must also be in your Event Proposal.

Last, but not least, make sure you update your Event pages on the Wiki.

If you think you have nothing to do see me. You could work on the Interview Project and the Wiki Entrepedia.

Hi, this week we have reviewed Marketing strategies and the 4 P's (Price, Place, Product, and Promotion) and 2 C's (Competition and Customers). The Marketing project due Friday is an individual advertising promotion for your teams event. This is done individually and can be submitted if electronic or handed in if drawn. Remember to read the instructions and rubric.

Thursday, the class will go to the Library.

Unfortunately, I was not able to formally mark some individual section proposals if they were not submitted last Friday. However, I did provide general feedback to the class and informal feedback to those who got my time in the busy class today. Please keep working on updating your section as final team proposals that are due next week.

The team priorities this week are as follows:
  1. complete your individual advertisement.
  2. Complete a memo to your PCSS organization teacher sponsor that include your executive summary information for the teachers and my approval. You can ask Dalia for a copy of her teams and she can please ad to the Wiki.
  3. Finalize your Team Survey and get approved by your whole team and myself. Make sure it is clear and covers the 4 P's of marketing.
  4. Keep working on your individual section of the proposal.

Time to finalize your Event Project so you can make a plan for a successful event.

The first step in problem solving and planning is to understand your problem and then to agree on your Goal. Only then can your team focus and be productive. The Goal this week is to complete your individual "management job" sections for your Event Proposal. To understand your "deliverables" and the objectives of the project, make sure you review the project overview, job descriptions, report requirements, rubrics, and schedule

This week we are learning about Planning, Setting Goals (P 47), The Venture Plan (Chapter 7), and the Project Plan. You should complete the following to prepare for your Interview Report, Event Proposal, and TEST next Tuesday, April 8.
  1. Watch Planning With Gill Video
  2. Read Chapter 7, The Venture Plan
  3. Watch The Business Report Template Video and Create your own Business Report Template using the Creating a Word Business Report Template Instructions found on the Business Report Page.
  4. Read the Section on Goal Setting on Pages 47-55.
  5. Read the Functions of Management on Pages 209-212.
  6. Last, but not least, Watch the Project Plan Video.

Your main task this week is to complete a first draft of your section of the Event Proposal. Review the Event Overview Document and Job Descriptions. You must print our your section and SUBMIT on Friday and also add to your Page on the Event page of the Wiki. Here is a brief summary of the draft sections of the Proposal Due Friday.
  • Communications Manager - Executive Summary and Event Report Template. Review
  • Marketing Manager - Preliminary Marketing Plan (Review Chapter 8 - Analyzing Your Market and the Marketing Section)
  • Project Manager - Create an initial Project Plan including a summary of major risks or potential obstacle. Review Planning material listed above for the Planning Section.
  • Finance Manger - Complete a Final Marketing Research Survey. Review feedback on your and other team members survey and update based on current Event and PCSS Organization information.
  • Account Manager - Write a Summary page on the PCSS organization and cause you are promoting. Review Chapter 8. Analyzing Your Market). Include some history, organization information, and key contacts.
  • Event Manager - Write a Preliminary overview of the Event and Duty Roster (Can have Teacher 1 until fill in) including as much detail as possible on the day, location, resource requirements (material and human), activities, pre-sales, auditions. Review Chapter 7, The Venture Plan.
